The 2026 Syzygy Calendar
The year 2026 has arrived. For astrophotographers, it will be an exciting one. Below is a calendar of what to anticipate, including three Supermoons, a solar eclipse, two lunar eclipses and the usual quarterly Torontohenge. As I am a Toronto photographer, Toronto-centric tidbits are provided where applicable.

January 3: Wolf Moon (Supermoon); Jupiter and moon in conjunction (visible in Toronto)
January 10: Jupiter in opposition (visible in Toronto)
February 1: Snow Moon
February 15: Torontohenge — sunset edition
March 3: Worm Moon (total lunar eclipse and hence also known as Blood Moon; visible in Toronto)
March 8: Venus and Saturn in conjunction (visible in Toronto)
April 1: Pink Moon
April 18: Venus and the moon in conjunction (visible in Toronto).
April 19: Torontohenge — sunrise edition
May 1: Flower Moon
May 31: Blue Moon (Micromoon)
June 8 and 9: Conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, with Mercury not too far away (visible in Toronto)
June 29: Strawberry Moon
July 4: Conjunction of Mars and Uranus
July 29: Buck Moon
August 12: Solar eclipse (total in parts of the world; partial in Toronto)
August 23: Torontohenge — sunrise edition
August 28: Sturgeon Moon (partial lunar eclipse; visible in Toronto)
September 26: Corn Moon (Harvest Moon)
October 5: Conjunction of the moon and Mars (visible in Toronto)
October 6: Lunar occultation of Jupiter (possibly visible in Toronto)
October 25: Torontohenge — sunset edition
October 26: Hunter’s Moon
November 16: Mars and Jupiter in conjunction
November 24: Beaver Moon (Supermoon)
December 23: Cold Moon (Supermoon)
